Vidding Meme 2011

This is my annual, end of the year, vidding meme, 2011.

I`ve done a total of 13 videos, for 4 different shows (and 1 multifandom vid)

13 vids, that`s a new low for me. The number of finished vids goes down each year. Last year I`ve done 17 vids (I`m sitting on an overall total of 117 videos)

Each year I ask myself why the number of finished videos goes down, this made me put together a list of all the things I`ve done in 2011:

Now I DO know why I made less videos. Looking at the overall list, I ask myself how I`ve been able to even finish the 13 vids I have done.

This is a list of question I`ve seen at several places, I thought I add these (beside my neverending rambling as usual :D)


My favourite video this year: "Raise Your Glass" and "American Soldier". The BSG vid, because it got me out of a vidding hole of doom, the SPN vid because it (still) gives me goosebumps while watching.

My least favourite video this year: none, I love `em all

Most successful video: That`s easy, "Raise Your Glass"

Video most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: uhm, all except "Raise Your Glass"? *rofl*

Most fun video: from a viewers POV I`d say "Eat It". For me, because of personal reasons, "Raidar Love"

Video with single sexiest moment: "Like a Lady", why? half nekkid (and bloody *cough*) Dean is ALWAYS hot as hell :D

Biggest vid fail: none, not really. This is the 2nd year in a row where I look at my vids, and think "not bad, you`ve done (much) worse"

Hardest video to make: "Pump It"! why? come one, it`s NCIS. 9 seasons of NCIS, stuffed with a gazillion of details and short and funny and awesome moments, to research.

Most unintentionally telling video: "We Might Fall"(it`s also a vid that makes me proud when I think about it. One of the reasons why: it`s been watched by a professional TV editor, and, he liked it *ya me*)

What you're planning for 2012: I can`t tell what will, or won`t, happen in 2012. What I do know is:

- I`m gonna continue vidding SPN vids that focus on Dean Winchester

- I have several vids I still owe, of course I want to finish these.

- I wanna do a "let`s celebrate episode 200 and show in general because it`s made of awesome" NCIS vid, this I need to finish until February.

- I wanna finish a Dark Angel vid, asap if possible (this vid was surposed to be posted on Dec.31st, 2011, but I`ll not make the deadline)

- I`ve added a new tag: "The Glades". I wanna do at least one "The Glades" vid in 2012. And add "Justified" to my list of fandoms.

- I wanna do NCIS & BSG character vids

overall, as you can see when you look at the list of things I`ve done in 2011, I do a lot of graphics (right now I`m uploading 50+ "The Glades" animations, that`s going to be one of the first entries in 2012), my brain spits out ideas faster then I can get them done. Even when I`m working on a video, it only takes a short tv moment to make the bunnies go crazy, then I do something else inbetween (or instead).

Okay, that`s the *official* meme, now comes my version, tehe

Awards:

I`ve done 13 videos in a total in 2011. My videos have won a total of 67 awards in 2011 (a few rounds are still open, and I`ve sent less vids into rounds this year).

I`ve made less vids then last year, but have been able to bag more awards then last year, for all of them ... O.O ... that`s, not too bad.

Five of my *done in 2011* vids bagged 34 awards in a total, "Raise Your Glass" bagged 14 awards on it`s own.

One thing that didn´t change: I still think twice before I send a Supernatural vid into a round. Don´t ask my why. I, don´t know the real reason behind this. Only thing I do know is, I pick a none SPN over a SPN vid anytime, for any round

Videos:

The first vid of the year, "Like a Lady", made my bounce in my chair when I made it. I had a LOT of fun putting the vid together.

Then, the vid bunny went on vacation, destination unknown. I really thought: "okay, this is it. This, is as far as you get, you`re done."

Then "Raise Your Glass" happened. I`ve been listening to the song on the radio, they`ve played it over and over, one day it made *BAM*, I thought "BSG !!!!!"

I grabbed the BSG clips, and slapped the vid together. Almost literally. I saw a scene, and thought "YOU`RE MINE" ... *grabs and slaps* ... I`ve been bouncing, and screaming, and laughing, and howling, while working on this vid. Cut and slap and fun and love for the show, this is how the vid was born.

(Actually, I`d have to copy/paste almost everything for the SPN vid "Ring Of Fire". Believe me when I say: I had a blast with this vid, haha)

Anyway, "Raise Your Glass" got me back into vidding. Because like said, I REALLY thought I`m done after "Like a Lady"

Next on the list is the BSG vid "Nemo". It`s special, for several reasons. One, it is my first ever character focused BSG vid, until then I`ve only done general ensemble vids for BSG. Two, it`s done for a vid battle with my fellow lemming and best friend aruna7.

Battle theme:
- same song
- same show
- same character
- different video editing programs
(she`s using Sony Vegas, I`m using Corel Videostudio)

It took me a LONG time to get the vid done, or, to even start it. At one point I thought I never make it. One day the bunny said "Hi, I`m ready", once started it took only a few days to finish the vid.

2011 is the first year I signed up for promt challenges, I`ve done some promt vids (a few are still waiting to be done), I`ve done a (trailer like) video for the SPN J2 BigBang, I`ve managed to finsh a vid that`s been waiting to be finished for more then 2 years (NCIS "Pump It").

I still do vids as I prefer to do, I still do NOT do as others might want me to do (at least, it has been sometime since I`ve been told to change program, because apparently Sony Vegas is oh so shiny *duh*) I still know how I do it is not what most people prefer to watch, I still can live with that.

I don´t bent myself anymore. It took me a loooog time to find my style, mistakes have been made along the way, and are still being made. I`m kinda *old school*, and I like it. I`m not a professional, I started vidding at an age when most people gave up on vidding, I, have to like what I do in the first place.

What you see, is what you get. Like said, It took me a long time, and I`ve worked hard, to find my style. Looking for fancy effects or heavy meta vids? look someplace else.

I don´t think the *how* I do my vids will change anytime soon, if at all.

According to my mediafire stats, the Hawaii Five-O vid TROUBLE and the White Collar vid 9 CRIMES are still (although done in 2010) fighting over the number 1 mediafire download spot. Both vids are still alive, and they receive new downloads almost every day.

Interesting read. A very prolific vidding year for you.

Enjoyed 'Raise Your Glass' when we saw it at the AvA's. I always associate Pink with Starbuck, bit of a bad girl. Also my daughter (who is an NCIS fan) liked 'Pump It'. Should have posted that at the time but making up for it now.

I still do vids as I prefer to do, I still do NOT do as others might want me to do (at least, it has been sometime since I`ve been told to change program, because apparently Sony Vegas is oh so shiny *duh*) I still know how I do it is not what most people prefer to watch, I still can live with that.

This is pretty much how I closed my Vid review this year. No point unless you like your own vids. Looking forward to seeing what you produce in 2012

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this, and for your nice words!
Looking back at everything I`ve done in 2011, I ask myself how I`ve been able to do all of this (it seems I need a life). And yes, I think it`s important we like what we do in the first place. After all, it takes sometime to finish a vid, I think it would be hell on earth if we`d try to force ourself, and the video, into something we are not.

It took me a long time to find my own style, I`m not going to give it up anymore.

I`m glad you like "Raise Your Glass" this much. I`ve been blown away by the overall response I got for this video. Before I had the idea for the video I thought I`m done vidding. The BSG vid got me back into *action*. I don`t know what would have happened without it.

Pink is great, I`ve used some of her songs already. And I just love & adore Kara. But after listening to this song over and over, I just had to use it for a (kind of) BSG overview vid. And at the end, it`s been used for a Galactica ViperPilot vid, long before I did my video.

Please say thank you to your daughter because of the NCIS vid. I`m always happy when I find out someone likes what I come up with. I`m a (huge) NCIS fan also. NCIS is one of my all time favorite tv shows.
